Shayla’s Band Concert

Shayla preparing for the concert

Earlier this month, Shayla participated in her schools Christmas band concert. I think all the beginning band did a wonderful job for their first time! They shared the stage (or rather gym floor) with the high school band as well as the Middle School 7th and 8th grade band. All the band teachers are doing a wonderful job with the kids and we can tell Shayla really enjoys her time with the band.

Last Week’s Praise Team Dance

Great job girls!

Shayla and The Praise Team

Shayla has joined the Praise team at Straight Life Church of God Cordele. I had the pleasure of sitting in during their rehearsal last night and Val is doing a wonderful job with all the girls! They are all working really hard and as time goes by the team is only going to get better!

Last night was the first night they rehearsed with their new skirts and you could see a world of difference when these young ladies put on the skirts and started to twirl around! It was truly a blessing to see them and to have shared in the experience of their joy.

Val and the rest of the youth committee at Straight Life is truly doing a wonderful job with all the youth.

I have embedded a video of their last performance here, you can visit their youtube channel to see some of their other performances as well as see the young men and their praise performances as well.

I wish all the youth luck in their upcoming performance this Sunday.

Spring has arrived!

It was a beautiful spring day yesterday and the girls decided to get out and decorate our walk way! As you can see they have already got out the sundresses and flip flops!

Strawberry Pickin"

Last weekend we went to Calhoun farms to pick some strawberries. After strawberry pickin’ we also enjoyed some homemade strawberry ice cream which was good, not as good as Calhoun’s thought it was since it was the most expensive ice cream I have ever eaten!

Here are some pictures I was able to get. Zaynah was more interested in the playground then the actually strawberries as you can see!

Shayla’s Birthday dinner

The 14th was Shayla’s 11th birthday! I know we are ALL really old! To celebrate she wanted to go eat at Golden Corral, it seems for a kid Golden Corral is the BOMB because you can get shrimp and pizza!

She had a great time and did not run and hide under the table when the waitress sang happy birthday to her! Here are some pictures!

Easter Sunday

Here are some pics of the kids from Easter. They all did a excellent job in the Easter program! I was so very proud!

Shayla’s First Dance

Shayla attended the Dare Dance a few weeks ago. Yes they actually begin dances now in the 5th grade, I don’t know what kids have to look forward to now if dances start when they are 10!
She didn’t want to wear a dress to the dance though so we had to go to Rue 21 (which must be THE store to go to for 10 year old) and get a new outfit that she picked out all by herself. I guess she had a good time, she is like her dad and doesn’t give many details of her adventure’s to the mother trying to live vivaciously through her.
Here are some pics! She is a cutie!

Update on the kids

Well a few things have been going on with the kids this past week.

1. Shayla’s soccer team also won thier divison. I received a call from her coach last week stating he was going to bring her trophy by the house since the Rec department did not get them to the team until after the season was over. We are still waiting on the coach to come by the house and drop off the trophy!

2. Shayla has also been learning how to cook, she has spent the last two weekends with her Grannie helping her cook Sunday dinner. Yesterday since I was sick she took over my Sunday tradition of baking a cake, (James helped her a little). I am not a big fan of Carrot cake but it looked beautiful! Shayla has already told Grandma she was coming to help her cook for Thanksgiving…now if she would only want to wash dishes! My life would be great!

3. Shayla also joined the Praise team at Grannie Church..more to come on that later I am sure.

4. Tai bribed his parents, grannie and auntie into selling candy for him at school. Between all of us he sold enough to ride in the limo next week. This past Friday though he also got a chance to spin the wheel at school, whatever number he landed on he got that much money. Well he landed on 10 and won $10.00! I am very proud of my little man, he still has six dollars left over from the birthday money he received from my mothers second born and he just added the $10.00 to it. James said since Tai was so good at saving his money he was going to open him up a savings account at the bank so he can grow his money some.

5. Zaynah is still Zaynah, spoiled as ever! But she is also a lot of joy, she makes us laugh all the time!

And that is it for what is going on in the kiddies lives this week.

Pictures from Soccer

Today was the first game I actually got to see, due to being away at training for the past few weeks. I am happy to say the Gators (Tai’s team) is 2-0 for the year! He has a great coach, really good with kids Tai’s age.

Below are some pictures I snapped at the game and a short video of the game itself. When watching the video remember Tai is number 11.
