Congrads to Lynn!

a Pictures, Images and Photos

She did it! Today Lynn received her GED! This just proves what a little determination, hard work and having people who support you and stand behind you can do.

There were a lot of people who doubted Lynn’s ability to earn her GED, and it took a lot for James and I to explain to her that she should use her “haters” as fuel to work even harder. So I personally would like to thank those people.

But back on topic. CONGRATULATIONS LYNN! Now her next step is getting enrolled into South Georgia Tech!

One Year Later

Daddy has been dead for a year now. I am not one to sit around and mourn the lost of someone, it really does no body any good. I rather remember the good things about a person and what they added to my life. Although Daddy is gone, he lives on, in the stories I tell my kids about life when I was growing up, the elephant ear bulbs growing in my yard now that grew in his for 20 years, the cast iron skillet I take out to prepare a meal with at times that once belong to Grannie Crawford and the hat he always wore that now runs around our house on the head of Zaynah while she sings “Going on a safari, Going on a safari!”

Momma and Lynn were the two that feel his lost the greatest. They were the two that helped to take care of him In the past year, Momma has finally realized she could not go on working in her present health condition (something that worried Daddy tremendously), stopped trying to do it all herself and moved in with my family. Lynn has just about reached her goal of earning her GED and becoming employed, earning a lot of self confidence as well as self esteem along the way.

Both Lynn and Momma have became more confidant and eager to take on new challenges in life, whether it be surfing the ‘net or standing up for what they believe in. I am proud of both of them and I know Daddy would be as well.

Daddy has been gone a year, the best way I know to honor his memory is to honor, cherish, and respect that what meant the most to him.

Lynn

Lynn is working hard on completing the requirements for her GED test. She hopes to graduate next month. So if you see her please please please help us keep her encouraged! I know a few weeks ago our cousin Linda seen her in Wal-Mart and gave her some encouraging words that meant the world to her. You would be surprised how much a few words can mean to someone who is trying so very hard.

Keep it up Lynn, I know you will be walking across that stage soon and on to your new life!

Strawberry Pickin"

Last weekend we went to Calhoun farms to pick some strawberries. After strawberry pickin’ we also enjoyed some homemade strawberry ice cream which was good, not as good as Calhoun’s thought it was since it was the most expensive ice cream I have ever eaten!

Here are some pictures I was able to get. Zaynah was more interested in the playground then the actually strawberries as you can see!

Congrads to Lynn!

Lynn received her work ready certificate this week. This was a test that she took before taking her GED test a few weeks ago. This is just one of the steps the Lynn has been taking in the last few months in order to “catch up” her life that she put on hold to help take care of Daddy before he died.

According to the web site GAworkready.org, “Earning the Georgia Work Ready Certificate enhances employability by indicating skill and knowledge levels to potential employers. The certificate shows job applicants have the portable skills — reasoning, reading and basic math — to serve as a foundation for training. It also tells employers that they are ready, willing and able to work and learn.
Certificate holders have an advantage when applying for jobs, a complement to a diploma and resume. For employees already on the job, a certificate can demonstrate skills needed for a promotion or for training that leads to greater productivity and effectiveness. “

Congrads Lynn for making this important step!

Life getting back to normal

Sorry it has been a minute since I posted. Momma and Lynn got moved in last Sunday. They are still getting things where they need to be and I believe tomorrow will be the last day they have to get some things out of their old place.

Around our house, we finally got the furniture that Momma brought with her set up, the computers set up where they were going to be (James bought himself a new computer for Christmas and we set up the older one in the Den for me and the kids to use). Today I brought all the plants over from mommas old place and I am going to find a place to set them up as well since we are still having cold weather here and they can not go out on the porch.

Other then that things are going well here. Zaynah is spending a lot of time with Grandma, because Grandma will let her watch sponge bob all she wants on her TV! Yesterday I went into momma’s room and she was sitting in her chair reading a book and Zaynah was sitting on the floor playing barbies.

I knew things would work out once we got it all together!

Driving Lesson

Today was Lynn’s first driving lesson! James has been brave enough to volunteer to teach my sister how to drive and today was the first day of her lesson. She does admit she was a little scared, but according to James she did great, and he is going to take her back out on Wednesday.

I was very proud of Lynn when she stepped out herself and picked up the drivers manual and started to look it over, and now my heart is about to burst with pride! This is a very big step for her so please send your love and encouragement her way.

See I told ya’ll I had a wonderful husband! LOL
