Our Christmas Tree

Here are some pictures of our christmas tree for the year. Last year I actually had three trees up in the house. One in the living room, one in the den and one in the kids room. This year though in my haste, I actually broke one of the trees and so the Den tree (smaller one then the living room tree) had to be moved into the living room. Oh well at least there is a tree up!
The picture up top was actually taken by our future photographer Zaynah! Pretty good for a three year old huh?
Of course there is the now traditional Zaynah, Jake and the Christmas tree picture as well!
Christmas Spirit

It is getting to be that time of the year again. It seems to come each and every year earlier and earlier. This year seems to be a little different for me though and I am having a hard time understanding why. This year I am actually in the Christmas Spirit!
Ever since I was a small child I have never enjoyed Christmas, it just seemed to be too much emphasis put on what to get some one or what you are getting yourself. I hated it when I was younger and as the oldest I would often get less then my siblings with a little shrug saying “I know you will understand because you are the oldest”. In my imagination I would think things would be different if my “real” dad was around, he would get me whatever I wanted.
Well times change, and little kids grow up and realize that their “real” dad is the one there with you everyday and your mother and him and made sure you have gotten all of what you need and maybe some of what you want. Beside how much of a “real” dad could someone be if they have never once acknowledged your presence or made sure everything was a-ok with you.
But enough of that. This year is different for some reason, maybe my Daddy’s passing, or my so called sisters BS these past few months, but I have finally understood what family is really about and how much holidays and traditions mean to people. For once in 30 plus years I am not dreading the day, I do not have a knot in my stomach at the thought of going to someone home for dinner, and spending time with people. It is actually a very freeing feeling to have. As you can hear I have even posted Christmas music on the blog and my myspace page! I hate Christmas music! LOL
So here is one of my favorite Elvis Christmas songs…to help everyone else get into the mood!
