Giving a Gift

GIVING TREE

When I read my sister’s blog today it reminded me that Momma has decided to donate some of the things that daddy needed in his daily life to someone else who might need them. She found a place called “Brother Charlies” in Tifton GA who is going to be kind enough to come down and actually pick up the items and save her the trouble of trying to figure out how to get them to tifton. When I mention this to James he was telling me that his office actually used Brother Charlies a lot when helping families re-settle into their homes after leaving drug rehab or just not having the basic things that many of us take for granted, Here is some info I found out about Brother Charlies on the web:

“Executive Director Mark Stone explained this is a Christian-based program that has a homeless shelter housing up to some 45 people. In addition, there is a drug and alcohol rehab wing where the length of stay varies from six months to a year. Lenny Accuri, who runs this wing, told me recovering addicts have access to individual and group counseling. What’s more, after some recovery time, they are given help to get more education or a job. Director Stone told me Charlie’s receives donations from area churches and it serves an 18 county region. “It’s a ‘last stop’ for many,”

I am really glad momma found a place that can benefit from these things that daddy no longer needs.

In the spirit of giving and helping those less fortunate then ourselves I also found two websites that help others and it cost nothing for us to help too, I am going to add them to the sidebar links and please remember to click on them everyday!

Free Rice- at this web site you play a vocabulary game and for each word you get correct, so many grains of rice is donated to the United Nations World Food Program. So you get to give and get smarter at the same time! LOL
